Notes on travel to New York!
The Statue of Liberty:
Let me begin by stating that this government website has a ton of useful information. Statue Of Liberty National Monument (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov)
While General admission to the park is free but, you do have to pay for the ferry to get there.
There is also separate fee for entrance to the pedestal and crown. There is an elevator inside the Pedestal, but not in the Crown. The Crown must be climbed physically. There are 162 spiral steps from the Pedestal to the top of the Crown.
Ferry: Statue City Cruise is the authorized ferry service to take tourists to the Statue of Liberty. New York City Statue Tickets & Tour Experiences | City Experiences
Statue City Cruise website also has tickets to the pedestal and Crown of the Liberty Statue.
What no one tells you is that the lines for the ferry are a mile-long and in the hot sun, it is terrible. It is worth buying either the Pedestal or Crown tickets as these ticket holders can skip the mile-long entrance lines.
The Ferry usually takes 15-20 minutes to get there. There is a security check point to get on the ferry.
Ferry on-board amenities: Bathroom, café for light snacks and water, disability seating and help for disabled is available.
Amenities at the statue: Bathrooms, elevator for disabled, EMT help is available. You can explore more at: Accessibility - Statue Of Liberty National Monument (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov)
Food court- options range from hot dog, burger, pizza, sandwiches, fries, salads, gluten-free bread, ice cream, soft drinks. Prices for food are reasonable New York prices.
